What is DHT?

DHT Hormone (5-alpha-Dihydrotestosterone)
DHT is an abbreviation for 5-alpha-Dihydrotestosterone and refers to a hormone that has several roles in the human body, one of which has to do with hair follicles: DHT is the byproduct of enzyme 5-alpha reducatase (which is being produced in the human scalp) that interacts with the testosterone hormone and produce DHT.
At this stage DHT attaches itself to the hair follicle and reduces the proper blood flow to the scalp. This process prevents vital nutrients from reaching the hair follicle, and gradually causes the thinning of the hair until its complete fall out.
How it works?

DHT and a hair follicle
Herbal DHT inhibitors (blockers) use natural ingredients such as Saw-Palmetto and Nettle to prevent DHT from binding to the hair follicle without interfering to other hormonal activity and therefore do not cause any side effects such as decrease in sexual drive, prostate problems and more.

Female v.s. Male pattern baldness & DHT inhibitors
DHT is the prime factor for male-pattern baldness and therefore will serve as the right treatment for men. For women, it’s a different case and the female-pattern baldness is known to be more complex.
In most cases, even in conventional medicine, doctors will not prescribe DHT inhibitors for women unless it’s a special matter and the patients are not in age of pregnancy.
